Pier Giorgio Morandi

Pier Giorgio Morandi – was once the first oboist in the orchestra of Milan's famous La Scala before becoming assistant conductor to Riccardo Muti. He studied conducting under Leonard Bernstein and Seiji Ozawa, and in 1989 he became the principal conductor of the Roman Opera. It was a turning point in his career. Since then, he has become a regular guest of the most famous European opera theatres and concert halls.

He is also a respected interpreter of symphonic music. Maestro Morandi collaborated, inter alia, with the Budapest Radio Orchestra, the Santa Cecilia Roma Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra del Filarmonico di Verona and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. He can boast of many albums. He conducted the London Symphony Orchestra during the famous Verdi Gala with the participation of tenor José Cura – the DVD of this concert became a world bestseller.
